Excellent Progress in the Working For Families Programme - 26/02/2008

The Scottish Government has congratulated local Working For Families programmes for their progress over the three-year programme.

The draft quarterly report for 1 October to 31 December and the indicative numbers of both registrations and outcomes are looking really impressive.

With 23090  clients registered with WFF, and 13385 of those clients achieving an outcome, you are all to be congratulated on the hard work that you, your staff, and your clients have put in.

I realise that with the onset of the Fairer Scotland Fund, there may be an impact on the registration of clients, but if we can continue to build on the good work done so far, there is every chance that the original 15,000 target will be reached. This would be a phenomenal result.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to let you know that WFF has been nominated, and indeed short listed for a Scottish Government Excellence Award 2008, in the Wealthier and Fairer Scotland category. The programme also received a commendation in the Safer and Stronger category. In short listing WFF, the judges acknowledged the following factors:

  • Innovative tailored key worker approach
  • Demonstrated measures of success, measurable impact, independent evaluation
  • Endorsements from service users - qualitative measure of success
  • Contributed to Wealthier and Fairer by targeting the economically excluded
  • Sizeable group receiving the benefits of the project

What ever the outcome may be, it is great to know that the contribution that WFF has made over the last four years is being recognised. Winners will be announced at a cerem
